One of the new Got Milk ads...

Poking fun at the sport's steroid scandal, the television ad for the California Milk Processor Board talks about a player getting pulled from a game "after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance."

In the next scene, a coach pulls a carton of milk from the slugger's locker.

"There is nothing humorous about steroid abuse," said Tim Brosnan, executive vice president for business for baseball. "I would think that the California Milk Processor Board and their advertising agency would know better regarding an issue that threatens America's youth."

The San Francisco ad agency that created the ads says they were meant to deliver the message that "milk is good for you, that milk actually does many of the things that people hope those wonder drugs might do for them and does so naturally."

My opinion - if you can't laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at? Get a sense of humor, MLB. Yuck it up. It does a body good.

Crash movie poster

I couldn't believe this movie. I thought I was recording the 2004 "Crash," with Don Cheadle and Sandra Bullock, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

YIKES!

This movie is about a man who develops a car crash fetish, in order to try and rejuvenate his sexual relationship with his wife.

What?!?!? Gets turned on by twisted metal and broken glass, and then wants to go make love to his wife? That's sick and twisted.

This movie was pretty weird, and DEFINITELY not for everyone. It was rated NC-17 for a reason.

Just my thoughts...now I need to go purge them.

Solar Sail Test Officially Fails

It is over. The test has failed...

The world’s first solar sail spacecraft crashed back to Earth when its booster rocket failed less than two minutes after Tuesday’s takeoff, Russian space officials said Wednesday.

Lost in Space.

Like you saw from yesterday's blog, Cosmos-1 was slated for launch just before 4pm EDT yesterday (6/21).

The launch happened, but scientists from the Planetary Society no longer know where it is. "We cannot confirm a successful orbit insertion," says Susan Lendroth, spokeswoman for the Planetary Society.

There is a weak signal coming in from Cosmos-1, and that could mean the craft is in the wrong orbit, and its antennae are not pointing directly at the ground receivers. "The good news is we have reason to believe it's alive and in orbit," Planetary Society co-founder Bruce Murray told reporters. "The bad news is we don't know where it is."

Back to the drawing board, I'm afraid. I truly want Cosmos-1 to be successful, so let's hope it doesn't remain "lost in space."

OK, the time has come to once again test the solar sails of Cosmos-1.

In 1945, journalist George Weller snuck past the American occupying forces and became the first American journalist to see the devastation left by the atomic bomb that fell on Nagasaki. His story infuriated U.S. General Douglas MacArthur, and the war hero had the article quashed. The Japanese paper, Mainichi Daily News, has now published all four volumes of Weller's account.

Wow...Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are engaged. He proposed to her high atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Does anyone care that Katie Holmes was 2 years old when Tom Cruise made Risky Business? Talk about a May/December relationship...

Also, does anyone think it strange this is all going on right before BOTH of their summer blockbusters open? Holmes' Batman Begins raked in a modest $15M on opening day. Cruise's War of the Worlds begins June 29th.

He probably proposed to her on the Eiffel Tower because he could give her an ultimatum. I can hear TC now, "Marry me, or I'll push you off this tower..."

Anyone have any bets on how long this will last?

I love this cartoon! Calvin and Hobbes has been one of my all-time favorite cartoon strips, and now they've taken a cult classic and given it a new spin.

"All Your Base" was a video game, designed in Japan. The designers attempted to speak English in the game, and it came out as the comic strip shows.

Don't Panic...

This movie opens up on Friday. I'm kinda psyched about it, seeing as how I've read the entire series of Douglas Adams' books.

I'm excited that John Malkovich (pictured)

and Alan Rickman (pictured)

are involved with the project, but there are some issues still remaining with the film.

This is the director's first film, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but the Hitchhiker series is a very complex thing to grasp, not to mention show to others. I wish him the best.

Also, one of my favorite characters, the man known as Ford Prefect, is being played by Mos Def, seen below.

I have no problem with this, but it might be jarring to the people who are very used to the BBC series, and grew familiar with David Dixon (pictured below) as the beloved character.

All this being said...I'm still gonna go see it. I've waited this long, and I keep telling myself, "Don't panic, PJ...don't panic."

I'll Be Coming 'Round The Mountain...

Laurel Falls at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. My family and I hiked the 2.6 mi round trip hike to this beautiful sight, deep inside the heart of the Smokies.

The hike was rated as "easy," so it wasn't so bad. As we were leaving the Falls, we encountered a family going up the mountain. The father asked, "Hey, are we almost there?" Since we were almost at the bottom, finishing our hike, I looked at him and said, "Not really." "Oh, God!" was his reaction, and he shook his head.

I hope he felt the hike was as worth it as I did...
